Open Positions

Directors

Requirements for Director Positions – In order to be considered for a Director Position, you must have been a Katsucon Department Head for 3 years. It could have been for multiple departments. The years need not be consecutive. (This requirement is subject to change depending on the number of applicants applying.) Directors report to the Vice Chairs & Chair.

  • Assistant to Director of the Guest Division – In charge of all the Guest Departments during the Convention with the understanding that you will take over the position in the future. Those include the International, Domestic, Web Comics, Industry, Panelists, Hospitality and Transportation.
  • Assistant to Director of the Events Division – In charge of all of the Main Events Departments during the Convention with the understanding that you will take over the position in the future. Those are AMVs, Charity Auction, Cosplay, Dance, Engineering (Tech Crew) and Hall Costumes.
  • Director of the Exhibits Division – In charge of all the Exhibit Departments. This includes Art Show, Artist Areas, Manga Library, Merchants Room and Video Gaming.

Department Heads

  • Publicity Dept Head - Presides over two sub departments – Publicity and Advertising. Reports directly to the Communications Director.
  • Karaoke Dept Head - Will run the karaoke programming at the convention. It would be helpful if you had a library of your own CDGs, although not required. Reports directly to the Programming Director.
  • Web Comic Guest Dept Head - Works with the Web Comic Guest Liaisons to make sure that the guests are being taken care of properly. . Reports directly to the Guests Director.
  • Transportation Dept Head - Must be over 25, have a driver’s license, be able to rent a car (paid for by Katsucon) and be available 2 days prior to the con and 2 days after in order to take guests to and from the airports, etc. We hope that this will not be a one person department, but everyone in this department must meet these requirements. There may be additional duties as required. Reports directly to the Guests Director.

General Staff Positions

Requirements for General Staffers – If you are currently part of the staff, you are eligible. If you know of someone who is not currently part of our staff, they will need to fill out a staff application available on our website.

  • Advertising Staff
  • Marketing Staff
  • Guest Liaisons for Every Guest Department (if you speak Japanese, it would be awesome to have you in the International Guest Department)
  • Transportation Staff
  • Hotel Liaison Assistants (2)
  • Room Coordinators (4-6) – ensure panelists and required tech are present for each panel; warn panelists about going overtime
