Submitting a Fan Panel Event

How do I submit a Panel?
Answer: Submit your Fan Panel request using the Katsucon 2017 Fan Event Application Form.

I’m an Artist/Dealer, do I still need to purchase a panelist badge?
Answer: Yes, you will have to purchase both a Panelist and an Artist badge.

How big can my group be?
Answer: There is a maximum of eight (8) panelists allowed to present a panel.

How many co-panelists am I allowed to have?
Answer: You are allowed a maximum of eight (8) Panelists for any event

I won’t be 18 by the time of the convention but I want to submit an 18+ panel. Can I do that?
Answer: No, you must be 18 by the time of the convention if you want to present an 18+ panel. As all attendees and panelists must have an 18+ wristband in order to enter the panel room or to attend 18+ programming.

My panel’s 18+, what does that entail?
Answer: If you are submitting an 18+ panel the following apply:

  • Generally, any panel that includes graphic violence, nudity, & course language is considered an 18+ panel .
  • Your panel won’t be scheduled earlier than 10:00pm.
  • You and all panelists in your group need to be 18 by the time of the convention.
  • You and all panelists in your group must have an 18+ wristband to enter.
  • Only 18+ attendees will be allowed into your panel.
  • Live Programming will be checking for attendees badges and wristbands as they come into your panel.
  • If you’re unsure whether your panel would be considered 18+ or not, usual practice is to err on the side of caution and assume it’s 18+. Otherwise, you can ask us using the Katsucon Live Programming Panel Questions and General Inquiries Form.

I want to host a Workshop type panel, will Katsucon provide me with the materials to run it?

Answer: Katsucon may be able to provide you with pen/pencil and paper, beyond that the panelist is expected to supply their own materials. However, there are some limitations such as food and beverages (tea for example) that are restricted by the hotel. Please mention all materials you plan to use on your application form.

I have no idea what kind of connections my device has. Can you help?
Answer: The best way to be sure we can support your device is to take a clear picture of your devices connections and email it to live-programming@katsucon.org or ask us for assistance using the Katsucon Live Programming Panel Questions and General Inquiries Form.

Will I be sent confirmation of my fan panel application once completed?
Answer: We will be sending out confirmations of panel submissions. All applicants will receive a confirmation notice within seven (7) business days that the application has been received.

What if I submitted panels but got nothing accepted? Do I have to pay the current attendee badge rate?
Answer: If your panel(s) get Denied, you will receive a code for a discounted registration fee in consideration for the time you were waiting to hear about panels. If your panels get denied and you receive a discount code the code can be used in Eventbrite to receive a discount on a regular attendee badge.

My Panel was Accepted! Now What? 

What if I bought a regular attendee badge but got a panel accepted?
Answer: Please wait to purchase a Panelist Badge until you have confirmed that your panel was accepted. However, if you already purchased an Attendee Badge, you will need to purchase a Panelist Badge. Additionally, you will need to initiate a refund request in Eventbrite to get a refund for the Attendee Badge.

What if I want to cancel my panel?
Answer: Email us at live-programming@katsucon.org or ask us for assistance using the Katsucon Live Programming Panel Questions and General Inquiries Form to let us know that you want to cancel your panel ASAP. If you only had one panel approved and you cancel that panel, and you have already purchased a Panelist Badge, you will need to initiate a refund request in Eventbrite to get a refund for the badge.

What Happens at the Convention?

What technical support will I have access to?
Answer: You will have 15 minutes to set-up for your event. During set-up technical assistance is available if there is a problem or issue just let the room coordinator know. However the technical team will not stay in the room for your entire event.

Is their internet provided in all the panel rooms?
Answer: No, unfortunately there is no internet provided in the rooms.
