SUPER GETO SENTAI FORCE 16

SUPER GETO SENTAI FORCE 16

PROFESSOR GETO has called forth people of all ages and walks of life to aid the world in defeating the nefarious DOCTOR GRUNGE! You, everyday citizens of the world, are to become heroic Sentai and team up to defeat the threatening menace of radioactive giant monsters! Now, go to the Laboratory and create the heroic uniforms you need to fight!

Rules:

  1. No entry fee, but all entrants (Sentai) must have a valid Katsucon membership. Also, we ask that people bring 2 “things” – boxes, fabric scraps, broken toys, articles of clothing, and so forth. Just dollar store or thrift shop stuff, or things you were going to get rid of anyway, one of these days. No spending a lot of money! Items can be used but MUST be clean. All items are added to the Laboratory for all to scrounge from.
  2. Katsucon will provide scissors, duct tape, safety pins, markers, scraps of fabric, and/or whatever else can be scrounged up to be added to the Laboratory.
  3. All Sentai must show up to the dance in street clothes. Because Sentai are from all walks of life!
  4. Sentai may be of any age, but must be willing to pose, talk, shout, and most of all, dance!
  5. Sentai may bring an honorable butler, loyal friend, or comedy sidekick to assist with construction of the heroic sentai uniform. Assistants don’t get a reward of their own…but loyal assistants should be used to that by now.
  6. Once in the Laboratory, all Sentai and their extremely loyal but otherwise pretty smart assistants have ONE HOUR to make their official battle uniforms!
  7. Sentai are encouraged to help each other! For that is what it means to be a hero!
  8. When ONE HOUR is up, all Sentai will be called forth to confront the really quite evil DOCTOR GRUNGE and prove their worth!

“The Super Geto (pronounced ghetto) Sentai Force 16″ is a impromptu cosplay challenge that anyone can enter just by bringing themselves and materials for the lab. You could bring cardboard, construction paper, tape, plastic, etc. to contribute. The SGSF will then be called forth to Professor Geto’s side to defend the dance from the nefarious Dr.Grunge who hopes to eliminate joy from the youth and spread non-dancing (whatever that is) to all corners of the con! You are our only hope!

A little history on sentai:

The Super Sentai Series (スーパー戦隊シリーズ, Sūpā Sentai Shirīzu) is the name given to the long running Japanese superhero team genre of shows produced by Toei Company Ltd., Toei Agency and Bandai, and aired by TV Asahi (“Super” refers to their use of mecha, and “sentai” is the Japanese word for “task force” or, literally, “fighting squadron” and was also a term used for Japanese squadrons in WWII). The shows are of the tokusatsu genre, featuring live action characters and colorful special effects, and are aimed mainly at children. This series is one of the most prominent tokusatsu productions in Japan, alongside the Ultra Series, the Kamen Rider Series, and the Metal Hero Series, and was adapted in the United States as Power Rangers.
