Karaoke and Katsucon Idol Information is Now Available!

Karaoke returns again for Katsucon 18! Open Mic will once again take place on Friday night, so drop by to sing or just to listen to some of your fellow congoers. Open Call tryouts for Katsucon Idol (our karaoke competition) will be taking place during this time—simply indicate that you are interested in competing when signing up and a small panel of judges will determine whether you qualify for a spot in the contest.

Thank you to everyone who pre-registered for Katsucon 18, pre-registration is now closed! Anyone who didn’t pre-register – don’t panic, we’ll still be happy to see you at the door.

For anyone wondering about sending in Parental Permission forms – while we’re happy to have you mail them to us, we’re also happy to accept them at the door. Please remember that if you choose to mail them, they should be mailed no later than tomorrow to ensure that they get to us on time.

Maid Cafés are a special kind of theme restaurant that first appeared in the Akihabara area of Tokyo and became popular around the turn of the century. Unlike your typical Western restaurant, Maid Cafés are staffed by highly attentive workers of a novelty Cafés that provided extra care to individuals that they serve. As the name suggests, Maid Café workers typically dress in maid outfits or other forms of cosplay.

The Katsucon 18 Maid Café is now open to take your reservations! Spaces are limited, so make your reservation now.

Cosplay Chess Scheduling

We’re thrilled to have so much interest in Cosplay Chess – it’s going to be awesome! Some of you have asked if there will be conflicts with Masquerade and/or WCS and we wanted to let you know that there won’t:) Cosplay Chess will be held on Sunday, with a rules meeting on Friday; so… you really CAN do everything! Keep the applications coming, and we’ll see you there!

Photo ID Updates!!!

Throughout the year we spend a lot of time planning, scheduling, mapping, meeting with Guests, researching, and all and sundry other things that go into making our favorite convention a reality.. but do you know what the most important part of Katsucon is?

It’s YOU! The ATTENDEES!

You’re the most important part of the con and the most important thing to us. We have increased our photo ID requirements in order to make things better for you, but we don’t want to make them harder! We really appreciate all of the feedback we’ve received, and we’ve made an adjustment in response to it. We will be accepting the International Student Identity Card for those of you that do not have, and are too young to obtain a government issued photo ID (we love you, New Jersey!). The ISIC is an inexpensive ($22), internationally recognized photo ID card available across the country and around the world. It can take 3-4 weeks if you order online, but they have same-day service if you go into one of the many offices. So… check the site to get a list of the information you need to carry with you, and get out there and get your IDs!

Clarification: we’d also like to clarify that we will NOT be requiring government issued/ISIC IDs from those 12 and under when they pick up their badge with their ID-bearing, registered parent or legal guardian.
